One Ro, Many Roads, Three Boxes

 Dear Peeps,

Thank you to the friend who inspired this post title—I will give you the credit, CJ.

How can you fit life into three boxes? Well, to be honest, mine could have fit into two if I were a good packer. I needed a Tetris expert—I know a few in my Year 10 class who should not be on games! How many boxes could you fit your life into? Possessions are not my life. I actually have no attachment to anything except people. I was tempted, but I did not put 🙈🙉🙊 into the boxes. I was surprised no one tried to push me in and shut me in as well. I can already hear them saying, "Lock Mum in the box." Haha, they missed an opportunity.

I remember people asking me how I could leave my first home, where I brought my babies back to. I thought, easily—because my babies were coming with me to the new location. This was about 15 years ago; they are no longer babies. They are young adults now. I think it stems back to moving a lot as a child. In total I went to 9 different schools and 7 of these where in Primary School years. But no matter what I still had S&P and Big Bro by my side. They are my stable, my constants and still are. ðŸ’“

One piece of furniture didn’t fit in the box—oops. Maybe when they suggest you measure your furniture, you should. That piece of furniture has gone to S&P’s, and another to my big brother’s place. Thank you to them for helping. I may need this furniture in the near future when we find a new home. Still looking for a rental, by the way.

A couple of things I didn’t put in the boxes were some photo albums, my clothes (I know you were concerned I was walking around nude), and a little statue I gave to my Nan—a grandmother and child. The photos are precious because, before 'the cloud ☁,' we took photos the old-fashioned way, and we certainly didn’t save and keep the files. Imagine how much USB space that would have taken! These photos are from the first few years of their lives. The rest are in ☁.

I didn’t think I would be sad leaving this house, but I was. I did have a little cry. I was there on my own after finishing cleaning and putting the final thing in the Taxi Boxes. I went and thanked the house for its support.

To be honest, I don’t have a high volume of good memories in this house. It was a turbulent time of divorce, teenagers, and moving on in life.

But I do have a few amazing memories—bringing home our puppy, Frank the cat, my kids' first drink, one monkey’s 18th birthday party. Imagine 70 teenagers, who were well-behaved, and left by midnight. That actually happened. Some other 💋experiences—which I will not share, as I won’t kiss and tell just yet. We have to get to know each other better.

I hope this has made you think about what you would put in your Taxi Boxes and what is important to you. I would love to know what you would keep out of the box. Feel free to leave a comment.

Love,

Ro.

Out of the box - probably at least half of what’s in my house, a lot of unnecessary and unimportant items that can easily be be done without. In the box - like you, old photos, things given to me by my children and grandchildren, a few little memories of my mum and dad and half of the clothes in my wardrobe. lol food for thought Ro. Xx
