Packing Day

Hello Peeps!

Well, we are on the move again.

We moved into our new home in 2022, a nice little place that I was able to buy after my financial separation. It is very small for me and the Cheeky Monkey's to live in and it was probably time to move but ......

I decided to rent the place out and look for something for us to rent. Thank goodness for S&P, we have moved in with them whilst we are finding something. The rental market is ridiculous but I can not complain as I have a roof over my head. I could be living in a tent on the foreshore. Yes, that is a huge thing in the area we live in. Many tents by the beach due to homelessness and housing crisis.

That is one of the reasons I am housesitting to explore new areas and also not enough rooms in S&P's place. They would have squished me in but it is time for some me time.

Anyway back to packing. I had to hire Taxi Boxes because there is no storage available. Another shortage!

I paid some guys on Airtasker to help me move the heavy stuff. Two big, burly men arrived. We chatted and they told me this was a side hustle. They actually work for a not for profit called Valley Hearts https://valleyhearts.com.au/. They have a home for men who are on parole to help them adjust back into society. Before this they volunteered with the homeless and found a lot of homeless had been in jail and struggling to get back on their feet. Their goodwill blew me away. (Please consider making them a donation or volunteer with them. they have many projects not just the parole house)

The men on parole also work. They go into The Valley and collect bottles and cans from night clubs and pubs and take them to Containers for Change and use this money to help fund the house. Makes you feel you can do more, right?

I asked if they had been in jail and they said No. They did it to stay grounded. They don't want to rely on government funding because this can be pulled at any time. Yep - sad!! So they are a self sufficient not for profit.

If you need anything moved I am happy to pass on their number.

Must head off and get some sleep.

Tomorrow I am cleaning the house with some Cheeky Monkey's and some good friends. I am very grateful🙏.

Are mental health issues a real thing?

Hi Peeps, Please note there will be triggers for some people on this post. I do mention self harm and dark thoughts. Stop reading now if you need to. This topic is not for everyone. I actually wrote this one many weeks ago and was deciding when would be appropriate to post. Yesterday, a young person in our community tried to take her life and it made me realise I need to post this. I am very sorry to say I never used to think mental health was a thing. I used to believe these people just needed to get out of bed, exercise and life would improve. Oh, how the universe proved me wrong. In 2021, I started to feel flat, nothing could make me happy. I got an amazing promotion at work and I was not even excited. That was a warning sign but I ignored it.
